Rostam Batmanglij

22 Sep

Rostam Batmanglij… The name may not be immediately familiar, bit his work almost certainly will. First and foremost, he’s the mastermind behind Vampire Weekend and he also has side project Discovery with Wes Miles from Ra Ra Riot. Most people who know him are probably aware of this. However what an awful lot of us don’t know or haven’t realised is that he has is own solo project too, called Boys Like Us, under which he produces remixes.

Below are two tracks, the first sounding like Vampire Weekend and the second Discovery, which is no bad thing. So for those of you who, like me, are eager for as much from the aforementioned as possible here’s some relief while we wait for whichever album comes first. I also, not wishing to brag, have the pleasure of looking forward to seeing Vampire Weekend in action soon, so this is less vital for me than it will be for some other fans!

Foreign Born – Early Warnings (Boys Like Us Remix)

This one sounds like Vampire Weekend, with all the twinkly sounds and airy feel that only they could do… until now.

Ok Go – White Knuckles (Boys Like Us Remix)

This one sounds like Discovery, synths all over the place and infectious high pitched vocals. I prefer this one personally.

Also, I should add, he has remixed Jack Johnson, but I’m not so keen on it personally, so I’ve left it out.

    Good post!
The Jack Johnson is my favorite though!

I disagree with Chomsky, the Jack Johnson track is quite boring I feel. Definitely prefer the Ok Go one because it’s more interesting, better sounds I feel.
