Recently I’ve been listening to alot of a music with a similar aesthetic to the xx. I want to share some of my favourites here with you.

The xx – Night Time

CREEP – Days (Featuring Romy Madley Croft)

Jamie Woon – Night Air (Ranadanman Refix)

Jamie Woon – Wayfaring Stranger (Burial Remix)

Marina & The Diamonds – Obsessions (oOoOO Remix)

It’s hard to decide exactly how to group all these tracks together, there is no cut and dried link. What I like about them is the dark and brooding nature, you can get lost in the sounds. A friend was saying that they all seem ‘sound-scapey’ and I guess that’s true, all of these artists use space very cleverly within their tracks.

Genre wise there’s a blend, from Witch House, to post r-n-b and post dubstep. It’s all very minimalist, and I’d imagine, to an outsider, very cliqued.

it feels like the CREEP track shouldn’t fit in here, but it does – i think romy’s voice has a really spacey quality, which is one of the reason the xx works so well

i agree with above comment, also i think the CREEP track shows the quality of romys voice, it is almost taken for granted within the music of the xx but these harsher synths show me that indeed, she does have a good voice and like alan has said this is another reason the xx are so good!

    great post <3
